Iranian officials told Pakistani army chief Asim Munir that Tehran would not hold talks with Washington before its demands were met.
Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said Washington would not regain Tehran’s trust before fulfilling seven conditions, including lifting the blockade of Iranian ports and sanctions on oil exports, and ending fighting on the region’s fronts.
Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian discussed mediation efforts and regional developments with Munir in Tehran; Pakistan is a key mediator between Iran and the United States.
Iranian security official Mohsen Rezaei said enriched nuclear material would remain in Iran, reaffirming Tehran’s position that it would not be transferred abroad.
A previous Pakistani mediation effort led to a temporary peace agreement in June, but it faltered after fighting between Iran and the United States resumed.
Tehran tied the seven conditions to reopening the Strait of Hormuz.
