Netanyahu calls for an investigation and prosecution of witnesses in “NAZA”

Benjamin Netanyahu has asked the heads of the army and the Shin Bet, as well as the attorney general, to investigate the film’s participants and prosecute them, including for endangering Israel’s security and defamation.
The documentary by Israeli journalists Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor is based in part on anonymized testimony from 24 Israeli soldiers and intelligence service members.
Witnesses say the Israeli military used technological systems, including artificial intelligence, to locate suspected Hamas members through their phones and strike them at home.
A soldier quoted in the film says a 15% civilian casualty rate was considered acceptable, and that strikes targeting a single man sometimes killed as many as 500 people.
The film opens in French cinemas on October 12 and 13, before a free online release planned for late November on the Guardian’s website.
After the film was screened in Venice, Israeli ministers threatened to strip the filmmakers of their citizenship, accusing them of betraying the state.
